Meet Jodie Bowering

PainPod Ambassador, Jodie Bowering was a member of the Australian Open Women’s Softball team from 2007 to 2014. Having first made the AIS Squad in 2007, she was selected as the Australian Open Women's #240 team player and played a total of 175 games for the Aussie Spirit.

Jodie's big debut for Australia in 2007 was at the China/Australia Challenge in her home state Queensland, where it didn't take long to make her mark, hitting a home run in her first game. Then after only 12 months in the AIS squad, Jodie made the 2008 Olympic team which won a bronze medal.

Jodie also received many individual awards including Most Valuable Player, Best Batter, Queensland Softball Hall of Fame and Australian Softball Hall of Fame. She was a highly dedicated athlete, often known to train 6 days a week and could change a game with one swing of the bat being a natural left hander.

During her time as an elite athlete, Jodie utilised the PainPod to decrease her recovery time. In particular, the 2014 World Series had Jodie and her team play multiple games a day while she suffered from a shoulder injury. “I used the PainPod on a daily basis, multiple times, and was able to successfully play to my full potential in every game! Shoulder intact!”

Post elite competition, Jodie still continues to use her PainPod on a regular basis. “The PainPod helped me during my first pregnancy to decrease the fluid in my feet. The sandals were my number one go to as they also helped to reduce my leg pain and cramps. Now, as a PE teacher and a mum of a baby and toddler, I am on my feet all day and get a sore, tight, lower back. The PainPod has become part of my night time recovery routine. I apply the large pads to my back and wear them while I prepare dinner. Once the little ones are in bed, I take them off and bye bye pain and tightness.”

Jodie’s Hall of Fame induction was recently featured on the Softball Australia Facebook page and you can follow her on what she's up to now on Instagram!
